Gabriela Moreno was born in León, Mexico, and moved to Montreal at the age of 18 to study French at Concordia University. After graduation, she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a fashion designer by enrolling at the Montreal Academy of Design and Technology. He says, “Design was the only race I really wanted to do,” with confidence.
As she recounts, her relentless nature led her to where she is today. In 2011, she began working with Gabriela Moreno Pro Designs, an apparel company that manufactures swimwear from stretch fabrics and has created quite a stir in the Canadian Swimwear Industry.
In addition to manufacturing all of the swimwear items in Canada, she hopes to open a bigger factory and offer jobs to refugees. Though she works 80 hours a week, she’s proud of what she’s accomplished and looking forward to what’s next. She was introduced to Canada’s richest investors by a CBS entrepreneur television show in the beginning of 2016. Eventually, Amazon agreed to buy the company.
Her talents will be showcased at Miami Fashion Week later this year, as she has started supplying stock to four boutiques in Quebec. Among the reasons that companies will continue to thrive in Canada is the stable economy, says Gabriela Moreno to other immigrants, especially women.

Secondly, Mr. Frank Ndayubashe of Burundi
At age 14, Frank Ndayubashe fled the Burundi civil war for Canada, where he stayed with his older brother. Despite the fact that French is his native language, Franck chose to attend the University of Winnipeg in order to concentrate on his studies in a quiet environment with few distractions. Because he always dreamed of owning his own business one day, he studied business administration.
Ndayubashe likes to wear bow ties and hats, so one day she came up with the idea of using wood for accessories like sunglasses and bow ties. In 2012, he opened Off the Wood after gaining experience with an insurance broker, but he couldn’t ignore his business idea. Mohammed Fakih is a gemologist and jewelry designer from Lebanon who moved to Canada at the age of 26. The multiculturalism of Canada immediately drew him in when he was invited by a friend from his hometown. He recognized that Canada is a country rich in opportunities as someone who believes in seizing opportunities when they arise.
It is fascinating and motivating to hear Mohammed Fakih’s story. When he was walking through Ottawa’s City Mall, he stopped by a jewelry store. The owner of the store accepted his offer of free help and shortly thereafter asked him to stay on as a full-time employee. He soon became the store’s sales manager and had a dream to own his own business, so he found a partner and soon opened his own jewelry boutique.

Fakih is now the owner of Paramount Fine Foods, a Middle Eastern restaurant that specializes in Middle Eastern cuisine. By the end of 2016, Paramount Fine Foods expects to have 55 franchise locations in Canada, the United States, Pakistan, and England.
While he regrets the trend that many newcomers arrive in Canada feeling that they have one leg in Canada and one leg back home, he says immigrants can achieve success simply by feeling that this country is theirs. Korean-born Eddie Lee is living proof that a person can succeed if they work hard and dedicate themselves. He arrived in Toronto at the age of 19 with only $ 400 in his pocket, a gift from his grandmother, having grown up in the Gangnam district of Seoul.
Though Lee had a scholarship to study Marketing at the University of Toronto, he washed dishes in a restaurant and worked day and night to make ends meet. Following the completion of his career, Lee landed a job in Toronto with ESS Foods, an importer of food and wine. Despite his ambitions of owning his own business, Lee and many of his Korean friends teased him for being short since he was 5 feet 6 inches tall. His mind began to wander to shoe ideas, and he came up with several. The idea of producing men’s shoes that increase height was shared by Lee with a friend from college who worked at a shoe factory.
